My associates
Our associates

Introducing the Associates who support our organisation by delivering courses, offering consultancy and working behind the scenes.
Jill Webb Training has known and/or worked with this team of associates for a number of years. This means that we can match their areas of expertise with our clients’ bespoke requirements.
In line with Jill Webb Training policies, all Associates are safely recruited. They also have a commitment to on-going continual professional development ensuring their knowledge is both relevant and up to date. Samples from feedback received from clients can be seen here.
To ensure that high quality training and support are delivered, all the associate trainers commit to keeping their professional development up to date. We meet regularly as teams working on different project to review and share learning. Every trainer is observed at least once a year, and if assessment is part of their role they take part in a full Internal Quality Assurance programme.
The team look forward to working with you face to face in West Yorkshire, or further afield or by Zoom.
In no particular order our Associates are:
Jennifer Bannister
I have worked in admin for the past 18 years for a wide variety of businesses including, waste management, recruitment and most recently was a Parish secretary for a church in Wiltshire. I have a level 3 NVQ in Business Administration and regularly like to take small courses to expand my knowledge. I have completed a Level 2 in counselling and Level 2 in Equality and Diversity.
In 2018 I challenged myself to become an Army Cadet Adult Volunteer and spent a year volunteering at the local group.
In my spare time I like to get away in the campervan with my family and explore the countryside.
I am delighted to be joining Jill Webb Training as an admin support and looking forward to assisting the associates with their requirements.
Gemma Turner

I knew from an early age that I wanted to pursue a career in childcare and education and have now worked in this field for 25 years. I initially gained a qualification as a Nursery Nurse and subsequently studied for a Foundation Degree and BA (Honours) Degree in Childcare and Education at the University of Huddersfield. My primary motivation is to work towards making a positive difference in the lives of young children and their families.
During my career, I have worked in a variety of roles in several childcare, education and family settings, in diverse geographical areas. Working as part of the management team and also serving as the designated Safeguarding Lead and SEN co-ordinator at a Children’s Centres enabled me to gain a deep understanding of the differing needs of young children and their families and the challenges they may face.
I currently work in an Early Years advisory capacity for a local authority, collaborating with partners in health, education and community. Delivering training forms part of my role: topics include baby environment, in-the-moment planning and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
I am a strong advocate for professional development, believing that a well-informed and dedicated workforce is better able to deliver effective outcomes for organisations.

This work has taken me to numerous countries around Europe including Slovenia and Croatia where the teaching was delivered using interpreters (big learning curve!).
I also offer support for groups of learners returning to work so do let me know if I can help with this!
Alyson Lawton
Alyson currently works part time for Wakefield Children and Young People’s Services as an Early Intervention Practitioner, having chosen to take Flexible Retirement two years ago.
In her own words, Alyson explains why she has joined as an associate:
“I have had a long and happy career in Children’s Services and, whilst I enjoy my part time retirement, I am always keen to try new challenges and explore new avenues where I can continue to use my past experiences, knowledge, and skills to continue to support children and families in my local communities and further afield.”
When not spending time with family, Alyson loves cooking, gardening, and walking and whenever possible taking the opportunity to travel to new places and meet new people.

After being a stay-at-home mum for many years, I gained my childcare qualifications.
Working firstly hands on with 0 – 5-year-olds I moved into management while also completing my adult teaching and Assessor qualifications and taught part time in the local college.
For several years I worked with the Local Authority training team with responsibility for training childcare practitioners and teachers in Safeguarding, PSED and the EYFS before moving into Children’s Centres where I managed several centres in a culturally diverse community with high levels of deprivation.
I have a counselling qualification and a wealth of practical experience of safeguarding, child protection and family support work which supports my work as a trainer.
Alison Gordon

I have worked extensively with businesses and the third sector organisations assisting them with strategic and operational development of people and processes.
My areas of specialty include development, facilitation and co-ordination of learning and development programmes, strategic and operational planning, business, management and interpersonal skills training delivery.
As a senior leader within Girlguiding, I have worked on a voluntary basis to manage complex safeguarding situations.
As a frequent mentor for those new to management she offers trust, confidentiality and helps individuals develop their potential.
Danielle Law

My background and favourite topic is psychology, following my formal studies I worked in prison for several years working with small groups of prisoners before moving to work in community criminal justice substance misuse services.
For the past ten years I have worked as a safeguarding adviser for a faith based community, leading on learning and training. Through this I have seen the transformative effect of equipping participants with safeguarding knowledge through high quality, engaging and adaptable safeguarding learning opportunities.
In my spare time I also regularly volunteer with junior parkrun and teach people crochet.
Jeff Trigg

As a head teacher, I was the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school. I regularly led staff safeguarding training dealt with several safeguarding cases (DSL)working closely with other agencies.
This experience has supported my current role where I am the DSL for a canal boat charity based in my hometown. The charity primarily provides day trips for disabled children and young adults, and groups from local care homes.
Having seen positive outcomes from the implementation of effective safeguarding policy, I am keen to work closely with others to develop excellent practice.
Hilary Cooper

I have had a very long career in Primary Education in Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham. During this time I was a Headteacher for over 20 years and acted as Designated Safeguarding Lead in both schools where I was in a Headship role.
When I think of the lack of training available when I started these roles it frightens me how decisions were taken and retrospectively it is easy to see why bad decisions did happen. This experience is why I am now so committed to ensuring everyone has good safeguarding training and the best possible preparation for their roles.
Currently I am Chair Of Governors for a local primary school and a part time education tutor for the University of Buckingham. In a voluntary capacity I am a leader in Girlguiding and this youth work has been at the core of my life outside of work.
