I am delighted to have my second specialist Safeguarding course approved by the CPD certification service. This means that clients can book an accredited Level 2 or 3 safeguarding course, knowing that the quality and standards of the course have been thoroughly checked. I am now booking into January 2019 if you want a course! If you need a course before then, I have a few places left on November open courses – contact me for details!
Preparing the materials for accreditation has been really good for my personal development. It makes me take the time to set down on paper what I hope that each part of the course will achieve, and to consider how I am accommodating different learning styles.
Perhaps most important of all, it has really focussed me on considering that good quality training needs to make a difference back in the workplace. Sometimes I get the ‘luxury’ of meeting learners who come back for a follow on or different course and that is a good chance to ask the question. More often, I only meet the group once, so I have started asking participants to identify one thing they will do back in the workplace to put the training into practice. Alongside the evaluation form (which I summarise and can be found here) this has provided a really good way to capture straight away how the session has made a difference. Sometimes the feedback is really simple – I am going to talk to a colleague about x, or look up website y. Sometimes it is more challenging
‘I need to talk to my manager about looking at our policy and reporting procedures…’
But it is always great that participants are willing to challenge themselves. Let’s go on making learning make practice better!
